Tachyon, Wormhole or Dark Energy for Transcoders:
- GPU Minimum – NVIDIA Maxwell Class
- GPU Optimal – NVIDIA Titan RTX, Quadro RTX8000, Tesla T4, Tesla V100
Notes – Card must be placed into TCC mode
PixelStrings On-Prem
- CPU Minimum – Intel Xenon E5 V2 Family, 8 Cores, 2.6 GHz
- CPU Optimal – Intel Xeon Scalable Gold 62xx series or newer. Minimum of 12 cores, 2.8 GHz base frequency
- Memory – 32 Gig per processor, fastest supported, single rank configuration
- Render Drives: 4 TB (4×1,000 GB Samsung EVO SSD or M.2, RAID 0)
- OS/App Drives – 500 GB [i.e. 2x500GB Samsung EVO SSD or M.2, RAID 1]

Dark Energy Professional
GPU:
- Minimum – NVIDIA Maxwell Class
- Optimal – NVIDIA Titan RTX, Quadro RTX8000, Tesla T4, Tesla V100
Notes – Card must be placed into TCC mode
Display card:
- Minimum – NVIDIA Maxwell Class
- Optimal – NVIDIA Quadro p4000/p2000
Notes – Card must be placed in WDDM mode, Pascal series display card is required for Pascal/Volta/Turing series GPU
CPU:
-
Minimum: E5 V2 Family, 8 Cores, 2.6 GHz
-
Optimal: Intel Xeon Scalable Gold 6154/6254
Memory:
- Primarily HD/2K – 16 Gig, ECC, Registered (Buffered), Single/Dual Rank
- Primarily UHD/4K – 48 Gig, ECC, Registered (Buffered), Single/Dual Rank
Notes – A higher quantity of memory will provide longer real-time caching of images for playback. The higher the resolution, the less time will be available for playback for a given amount of memory. It is not uncommon for workstations to have 128 Gig for 2K workflows and 256 Gig for 4K workflows.
Network I/O:
- Minimum – 2 Gig FC, 1 Gig-E
- Optimal – 8/16 Gig FC, 10 Gig-E
Drive Throughput:
- Minimum – HD/2K or less: 300 MB/s. Greater than 2K: 600 MB/s
- Optimal – HD/2K or less: 600 MB/s. Greater than 2K: 1.2 GB/s
