Jeffrey Powers of Geekazine was able to talk with Cinnafilm Co-founder and COO Ernie Sanchez at NAB ’13 about the company’s novel solutions for cleaning up old, grainy video and performing stunning broadcast conversions, and their leveraging of HP technology.
Writes Jeffreys, “Creating video nowadays with the right camera can bring you high quality images. Older videos or smaller camera (like GoPro) bring distortions of film grain or low light pixelation. Cinnafilm addresses these issues with a program calledDark Energy. This software helps upscale video and also clean up the imperfections.”
In the interview, Ernie Sanchez discusses some of the products that their company is presenting at NAB that help solve these problems. During the video accompanying the interview, there are several examples of Dark Energy in action, cleaning up some old video and even low light issues in a GoPro Camera. Ernie compares taking the video and making it look like it came from the same lens.
The other product discussed was Cinnafilm’s award-winning product for transcoders, Tachyon. Cinnafilm is the only solution for broadcasters and post production facilities wanting to retire old, baseband hardware and enter the world of file-based Standards Transcoding™.
